This is a picture of Jesus drawing close to the brokenhearted: the widow, the parent, the child, the friend who has lost someone too soon. He holds us up in His arms when we can’t hold ourselves up.

This is who He is in our pain. He is the Man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, and He moves with compassion toward those who mourn.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). He is the Creator who leans into the created and holds us close.

And His promise is true: “He will give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness” (Isaiah 61:3).

He is the lifter of our heads and the comforter of our souls. Lean into Him today🫶🏻
